Thousands took part in Ride2Work Day on Wednesday 15 October 2025, with ridership up across all surveyed Melbourne sites.

Bicycle Network’s Transport, Data and Surveys team counted 2,885 people on bikes at three sites – Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, Docklands and Canning Street – with overall ridership up 18% on numbers from these sites last year.Â

Female ridership was up 15% on last year’s numbers and e-bike ridership up 21%. While women made up on 23% of total riders, they constituted 44% of total e-bike riders.

Ride2Work Day celebrated its 32nd year in 2025 with commuters across the country urged to leave the car at home and give public transport a miss for the day.

In Hobart, Bicycle Network ran two popular activations.

At Mawson’s Place, riders enjoyed free coffee and a pastry, as well as access to a bike mechanic and bike shop stalls, and a turn on the legendary smoothie bike.

A free breakfast and bike info event also took place in Kingston, Hobart, featuring plenty of local riders as well as policy-makers, bike salespeople and mechanics.

Meanwhile in Victoria, Bicycle Network hosted three activations.Â

At Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, riders were treated to free fruit, free coffee by The Shed, free bike tune-ups by 99 Bikes and free bike engraving with Victoria Police, bike safety handouts from Victoria Park Rangers, product info and bike safety handouts from Lime Bikes and games, info and prizes from Big Build Victoria.

The inner north event, held along the Capital City Trail at Janet Millman Reserve in North Fitzroy, was a lively event featuring free brekkie and coffee, friendly bike tune-ups by 99 Bikes and free bike engraving with Victoria Police.

Visitors to the Kingston event at Dixon Street Car Park, hosted in partnership with the City of Kingston, enjoyed free doughnuts and bananas, fresh coffee, a go on the smoothie bike, the chance to test-ride an e-bike and free bike tune-ups by Brainwaves Bikes.

Bicycle Network also had a presence at the South Melbourne Market Ride2Work Day event, which was packed with activities, including a Zwift bike competition, bike-related prize draws, music, food and sustainability stalls and plenty of cycling chat.Â
