Formula One has a new driver’s spat as Oliver Bearman teed off at Yuki Tsunoda after the pair almost collided during the United States Grand Prix on Monday morning Australian time.
There was plenty of positivity in the Red Bull garage with Max Verstappen winning from pole position in Texas to edge closer to Oscar Piastri, and Tsunoda in the points with a seventh finish place.
But on lap 35, Tsunoda almost became tangled up with Bearman at Turn 15 with the Haas spinning after going off the track to avoid the Red Bull.

Bearman, who finished ninth, was furious post-race, invoking the spirit of racing in a fiery rant about Tsunoda.
“I felt like what he did was quite dangerous, against the spirit of how we should go racing and against the image that we should project to kids growing up in karting and stuff,” Bearman said.
“This is not the way we go racing. He was swerving all over the place for a few laps. And when I finally did stick my nose in and attempt to move, he moved in reaction… didn’t leave a car’s width of track, and that’s unfair, that’s not allowed, and that caused me to avoid.
“It could have caused a huge crash, honestly, without my quick avoidance, so it’s a big shame.”

Bearman did not stop there either, saying “it’s dangerous and it causes big crashes like this – we’ve seen it numerous times”.
The 20-year-old also objected to Tsunoda’s actions in yesterday’s sprint race.
“In the sprint race, he sent it up the inside into Turn 1 and took out his sister car,” Bearman said.
“In the main race, he did the same thing in Turn 1 again. So I feel like his driving may be a little bit desperate, and that was shown in his defence today.”

Tsunoda has been under pressure since replacing Liam Lawson in the second Red Bull seat earlier in the season.
Partnering Verstappen has been a revolving door, but Red Bull have bounced back from their woes in recent races.
The 25-year-old from Japan may have added a more ruthless edge in order to improve his results, but he insisted that he did not do anything wrong.
“I don’t think I moved under braking. It’s just a bit unfortunate how we ended up in that race like that, especially as we were having a good fight until then,” Tsunoda said post-race.
During his press conference, Tsunoda was also asked to address Bearman’s criticism over his sprint race move, and again was dismissive of the claims.
“That’s racing, right? I was fully in control, I didn’t have any lockups, and I was literally side-by-side,” he said.
“I’m not his teammate, I’m just fighting to be in the top 10 or more so yeah, I thought that was OK.”

Bearman also said that he had not any problems with Tsunoda in the past, but said that was not the case for others in the field.
He criticised Tsunoda for defending against Charles Leclerc, who finished on the podium, despite not jostling with the Ferrari for position.
“Have I had this issue? No, but I feel like he has this issue with other drivers,” Bearman said.
“He was fighting against Charles [Leclerc], who is not even in the race with him. Like, why are you defending [against] him? It just seems silly what he’s doing. It’s just not thinking forward. Silly driving, in my opinion.”
Bearman later said he will not discuss his objections with Tsunoda directly, saying “I don’t think he will change”.
