According to recent reports, Asvel could be excluded from the EuroLeague by the competition’s shareholders due to financial issues.
Asvel is currently one of the weakest teams in the EuroLeague in terms of roster quality and budget, and this could lead to their removal from the competition.

Under EuroLeague regulations, the minimum player budget required for participation is €5.8 million. However, Asvel has spent less than that amount on their roster this season.
Because of this, the other shareholders—meaning the clubs that own the competition—have the option to exclude Asvel from the EuroLeague after this season.
In recent days, reports have also emerged that ASVEL is considering leaving the EuroLeague voluntarily and joining the FIBA Champions League as part of aligning with the NBA Europe project organized by the NBA and FIBA.
It will be interesting to see whether ASVEL decides to leave on its own or if EuroLeague teams choose to exclude them, but it’s increasingly likely that the French club will not be part of the competition next season.
