Week 6 of NFL play was a game of good, bad and ugly. After some wild wins — including a TNF battle between two veteran quarterbacks, and the Denver Broncos’ miraculous fourth-quarter comeback — the league is looking forward to a busy Week 7.

The Washington Commanders decisively fell to the Dallas Cowboys, 44-22, in Week 6. But it was the loss of Jayden Daniels that really stung, as the Commanders quarterback exited the game early in the second half with a hamstring injury.

Daniels got twisted up in a strip-sack, and limped off the field, seemingly suffering his second injury of the season that could force him to miss time. And Marcus Mariota, who came on to replace Daniels, quickly threw a brutal pick-six.

This was set to be a promising season for Washington after advancing all the way to the NFC championship game a season ago, but things are looking rough as the Commanders fell to 3-4. However, not all is lost for Commanders fans: Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters on Monday that Daniels’ MRI indicates that his injury won’t keep him out long-term.

Meanwhile, two of the worst teams in the league — the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets — tried something new at quarterback in a desperate attempt to turn the season around, but it didn’t go quite as planned.

The Jets benched starting quarterback Justin Fields after halftime while trailing the Carolina Panthers 13-3, after throwing only 43 yards. But backup QB Tyrod Taylor didn’t fare much better, completing less than 50% of his pass attempts and throwing two interceptions in the 13-6 loss, as the Jets fall to a dismal 0-7.

Similarly, the Dolphins attempted to switch things up after Tua Tagovailoa threw his third interception of the day in the fourth quarter, but it was far too late to undo the damage of a 31-6 blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns.

Both Miami coach Mike McDaniel and New York coach Aaron Glenn will enter this week with their seat a little extra hot, and with their season on the line.

Great news for Commanders fans: Head coach Dan Quinn told reporters on Monday that QB Jayden Daniels, who left Washington’s loss to the Cowboys early with a hamstring injury, had an MRI that came back negative for significant injury.

“Jayden had an MRI on his hamstring today. Good news: not significant or long-term. But I don’t know the status for Monday night just yet,” Quinn said.

Defensive end Dorance Armstrong, however, suffered a “significant injury” that will end his season, per Quinn.

The Commanders face the Chiefs on MNF next week.

New Orleans Saints head coach Kellen Moore has confirmed that the injuries suffered by center Erik McCoy and running back Kendre Miller are both season-ending.

McCoy has a torn biceps and Miller has a torn ACL. Last season, McCoy was plagued by groin and elbow injuries, limiting him to just seven games.

Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is expected to return to the lineup this week to face the Chicago Bears, but he didn’t practice on Monday with his teammates, according to The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec.

Jackson hasn’t played since suffering a hamstring injury in a Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. The two-time MVP has missed Baltimore’s last two games as the Ravens have dropped to 1-5.

It’s been a stunning start to the season for the reigning AFC North champion Ravens, who were projected in the preseason as one of the favorites to compete for a Super Bowl.

Head coach John Harbaugh said after a Week 6 loss to the Rams that he expected Jackson to return to face the Bears following last week’s bye. But, as of now, he’s apparently not ready to practice coming out of the bye week.

The Houston Texans have activated veteran defensive end Denico Autry from the reserve/physically unable to perform (PUP) list. Autry hasn’t played a snap for Houston this season due to a serious knee injury.

Rookie sixth-round pick, safety Jaylen Reed, was also activated from the team’s reserve PUP list on Monday.

The Kansas City Chiefs will be without second-round rookie DT Omarr Norman-Lott for the rest of the 2025 season after he suffered a torn ACL in Week 7’s win over the Raiders, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Monday.

Norman-Lott registered a sack against quarterback Jalen Hurts in his NFL debut in Week 2 and logged his first career start in the week to follow. He has five solo tackles and one assist on the year, including one tackle for loss on limited snaps over five active games.

Things haven’t gone well for the Miami Dolphins this season, and the news hasn’t gotten any better coming out of Week 7, as tight end Darren Waller is now considered “week-to-week” with a pectoral injury, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday. He is reportedly not expected to require surgery for the injury.

Waller came out of retirement to play for the Dolphins, who acquired him from the New York Giants after he sat out the 2024 season. In addition to Waller, the Giants gave up a conditional 2027 seventh-round pick, and in return, New York received a 2026 sixth-round pick from Miami as compensation.

It took Waller some time to get back in the lineup after extended time off, but he made a splashy debut with the team in Week 4 catching three of four targets for 27 receiving yards and two touchdowns in Miami’s lone win of the season over the New York Giants.

Despite having logged just 105 total snaps in that span, Waller leads the Dolphins with four receiving touchdowns this season.

The team is already without star wide receiver Tyree Hill, who suffered a gruesome knee injury in Week 4 that has ended his season. Waller’s absence will only make QB Tua Tagovailoa’s uphill battle toward keeping his job as a starter all the more difficult.

The New Orleans Saints may have lost center Erik McCoy for the rest of the 2025 season in Week 7. McCoy is reportedly dealing with a torn bicep that would knock him out for the rest of the year, per Ian Rapoport.

McCoy is among the best centers in the NFL when healthy, but has struggled with injuries since last season, when he was limited to just seven games due to groin and elbow injuries. Despite that, McCoy still made the Pro Bowl last season. It marked the second-straight year he was selected for the contest.

The New Orleans Saints will be without running back Kendre Miller for the rest of the 2025 NFL season. Miller reportedly sustained a torn ACL during the team’s Week 7 loss to the Chicago Bears, per Jordan Schultz.

Miller had one rushing attempt for seven yards before leaving Sunday’s contest.

The news comes with the 23-year-old in the midst of his finest season as a pro. After being limited by injuries early in his career, Miller carved out a role as a change of pace back for Alvin Kamara in 2025.

Miller had already rushed for a career-high 193 yards through seven games and had already played more snaps than any other season in his NFL career.

Bryce Young came out of Sunday’s game against the Panthers and will miss next week’s game with a high ankle sprain. Andy Dalton will start in his place.

New York Jets cornerback Sauce Gardner is in concussion protocol, according to head coach Aaron Glenn, following Sunday’s loss to the Carolina Panthers, along with backup running back Kene Nwangwu. Defensive tackle Jay Tufele suffered a mild knee sprain during the game that the team will keep an eye on during the week.

Running back Breece Hall left the game on Sunday with an apparent injury, but coach Glenn says he’ll be fine. Glenn also said he’d have more information on wide receiver Garrett Wilson and his knee injury later in the week.

Glenn also says that he has not made a decision on the quarterback position as of yet. Justin Fields was pulled from Sunday’s 13-6 loss to Carolina after completing 6 of 12 attempts for 46 yards. Backup Tyrod Taylor replaced Fields and didn’t fair much better completing 10 of 22 passes for 146 yards and 2 interceptions.

The Miami Dolphins appear to be rolling with Mike McDaniel … for now. Following the team’s embarrassing loss to the Cleveland Browns in Week 7, the Dolphins are not expected to make a coaching change, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Dolphins are 1-6 following that loss.

McDaniel entered the season as a popular candidate to get fired after the Dolphins regressed to 8-9 last season. With the team out to a 1-6 start, changes could be necessary if the Dolphins want to turn things around.

McDaniel could make a significant change in Week 8. Following the team’s poor performance in Week 7, McDaniel said “everything is on the table” regarding a possible quarterback change. Tua Tagovailoa tossed zero touchdowns and three interceptions in the loss to the Browns and is on pace for one of his worst years in the NFL.

With McDaniel reportedly safe for now, Tagovailoa could be the first domino to fall for the Dolphins in 2025.

With the New York Jets at 0-7, the team is considering making some big changes. Head coach Aaron Glenn will need to determine which quarterback will start in Week 8 after Justin Fields struggled again in Week 7.

Fields was benched in favor of Tyrod Taylor after another week of poor play. Fields finished the contest with just 46 passing yards. He added 22 yards on the ground.

Taylor wasn’t much better once he got into the game. The veteran threw for 126 yards but added in two interceptions.

The Jets didn’t need much production to make it a game. With a touchdown, the team could have tied things up. Instead, the team went on to lose 13-6, prompting more quarterback questions.

With the loss, Glenn will need to choose a starter ahead of the team’s Week 8 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals have struggled defensively all season, so there’s an opportunity for whoever the Jets roll with to finally get on track during the contest.

The end could be on the horizon for two Miami Dolphins mainstays. Following another loss in Week 7, head coach Mike McDaniel refused to commit to quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

When asked about Tagovailoa’s performance, McDaniel said “everything is on the table” moving forward. The head coach added he would look at the game film to evaluate Tagovailoa’s performance.

Tagovailoa struggled in the 31-6 blowout loss to the Cleveland Browns. The quarterback threw zero touchdowns against three interceptions in the defeat.

On the season, Tagovailoa now has 11 touchdown passes against 10 interceptions. He could find himself on the bench in Week 8 … if McDaniel is still employed by then.

Las Vegas Raiders pass rusher Maxx Crosby appears to have avoided a major injury in Week 7. Crosby, who left the contest due to a knee injury, should be OK after the team’s Week 8 bye, according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Crosby left the contest just before halftime. He was quickly ruled doubtful to return.

While Crosby did not play the rest of the way, the team reportedly took him out for precautionary reasons. The Raiders are on bye in Week 8, giving Crosby even more time to recover from the injury. It sounds as though he’ll be good to go when the Raiders take the field in Week 9.

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young may have avoided a serious injury in Week 7. Young, who was replaced by Andy Dalton during the 13-6 win, will have his ankle injury re-evaluated in a few days, per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Young had to leave the team’s Week 7 win in the second half due to a right ankle injury. Rapoport said the team wants to see how Young responds after a few days. Rapoport added that Young’s ankle “does not feel like a major injury here.”

Young turned in a fine performance in the team’s Week 7 win. He completed 15 of 25 passes for 138 yards and a score before leaving.

On the season, Young has 11 touchdowns against five interceptions in seven games. His 4.9 touchdown rate is a career-high.
