Joe Jonas is opening up about the very modern way in which he’s tackling dating in the spotlight.

Jonas, 36, covered Esquire alongside his brothers Nick, 33, and Kevin, 37, and revealed that while he doesn’t use dating apps, he does make good use of the internet.

“I guess Instagram and TikTok are apps, and I’ve met people that way,” he told the outlet.

The Jonas Brothers star was previously married to actress Sophie Turner, with whom he shares daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3. He filed for divorce in September 2023 after four years of marriage, and their split was finalized one year later.

Jonas is currently on the Jonas Brothers’ JONAS20: Greetings from Your Hometown Tour, which he said can making dating all the more difficult.

“Five shows in a row doesn’t make it easy to meet someone for coffee,” he told Esquire.

In May, the star talked about the struggles of opening himself up to love again after divorce in a TalkShopLive stream, saying that the title for his song “Only Love” came from someone he was dating.

“I was seeing somebody at the time and I was kind of having this idea of dating again. It was really scary and intimidating,” he said. “Love takes different shapes and forms and I was re-discovering what that was.”

Jonas said that the unnamed person “comically” brushed aside his romantic concerns by saying, “Well, it’s only love,” which ultimately inspired the song.

“I was like, ‘Well, when you put it that way…’ So we wrote a song about it,” he said. “Like, it was not a big deal, but it was a big deal to me, and a big deal to them, too. But it’s okay to take a leap of faith and just try again and put yourself out there.”

Meanwhile, Jonas praised his co-parenting relationship with Turner during Jay Shetty’s On Purpose Live Tour in Florida in May.

“I have a beautiful co-parenting relationship that I’m really grateful for,” he said. “Having an incredible mom, Sophie, for those girls is like a dream come true.”

He continued, “As young girls, looking up to great women is what I want for them. I think what values I want for them are to be open-minded and have a big heart, be able to walk into any room and feel confidence, and know that they can do literally anything they want.”

The Jonas Brothers’ tour is set to run through December, and the brothers will also appear in the Disney+ movie A Very Jonas Christmas Movie on Nov. 14.
