Bucs-Lions had major shootout potential given the high-powered offenses led by MVP candidate Baker Mayfield and Jared Goff, but the contest was dominated by Detroit. Mayfield’s weaponry received a nice upgrade with the return of Mike Evans, and star rookie Emeka Egbuka in the lineup one week after suffering a hamstring strain. But Evans’ night ended early due to another injury.
In Game 2, Houston and Seattle’s hard-nosed defenses could come up big, but neither C.J. Stroud nor Sam Darnold‘s offenses lack the talent that could also make this a high-scoring contest.
