Prime Minister Anthony Albanese was kept waiting months for his first meeting with US president Donald Trump, but his patience appears to have paid off.
Mr Albanese leaves Washington DC with a multi-billion dollar minerals deal, a shored-up AUKUS agreement, and the possibility of a return visit by Trump to Australia.
The news has been welcomed by local producers of rare earth materials.Â
