There was a widely held view that Woods’ attack on Slater galvanised the Queensland players as they rallied behind their under-siege coach to win the final two games of the series to lift the shield.
Wane said his comments were widely being discussed among his England players and would be used as motivation.
“Oh yeah, it’s been mentioned,” Wane said of his team.
“I’m not on social media but my daughter sent it to me. My daughter is very protective of me, both my daughters. They were a bit pissed off. The players were as well.
“We’ll find out on Saturday, but if we do get that victory, it’s going to be down to him.”
Woods also criticised the selection of AJ Brimson in the English side, giving the Poms little chance of knocking off the Australians with a player who – Woods claims – “can’t make the Queensland team”.
“I’ve had lots of chats with AJ,” Wane said.
“He’s a champion bloke and he’s trained so well. Things like that, we’ve all got thick skin in this game. You can’t be affected by some of these comments. He’ll be fired up, but he’ll have his own reasons, AJ. He’s a great guy.”
