When Jonathan Kuminga and the Golden State Warriors finally agreed to their two-year, $48 million contract, it was widely assumed he would become a probable trade candidate as soon as he becomes eligible to be moved in mid-January. But the Warriors don’t see many realistically available players they would trade Kuminga for during the season.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is an obvious exception, according to sources with the Warriors. Beyond Antetokounmpo, there is Trey Murphy III of the New Orleans Pelicans. Murphy would add both shooting and defense to the Warriors and is on a contract that runs through the 2028-29 season.

Kuminga, however, could be exactly what they need as it is if he can embrace his role alongside Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler and Draymond Green.
