‘Keeping things simple’ is a particular point of emphasis for the upcoming takeaway joint from the team behind popular upmarket seafood restaurant, Louca’s. This contrasts with the elegant, carefully curated menu the Pulteney Street restaurant has built a name on, but if there’s one attribute that’s likely to carry over, it’ll be quality.

Set to launch in mid-August 2025, Mr Mario’s will keep the offering simple. No frills, and just the right amount of options. The takeaway joint will be run on the same premises as Louca’s, at 242 Pulteney Street, with a separate entrance at the back. No need to pull out the dress shirt to fit in with the fine dining crowd.

The menu has two sections, a succinct rendition of your typical fish and chip shop offering. First up are the burgers, with fish, beef, and chicken options available. On the other side, you’ll find the classic grilled and battered garfish, barramundi, and even salmon. Then round out your order with snacks like dim sims, calamari, prawns, all the classics.

The Louca’s kitchen will be getting a shuffle too, with one side set to feed Louca’s, and the other, Mr Mario’s. The back of the building will also open up a small 20-seater dining area alongside the ordering and waiting space if you’d prefer to eat in.

When it opens for business midway through next month, you can expect simple, fresh fast food, excellent fish and chips, and the top notch seafood you’ve come to expect from Louca’s, but in a new light.
