Four sessions are being staged, and they’re all free to attend.
Keighley Amateur Boxing Club, in partnership with Parkinson’s UK, is spearheading the initiative.
What to expect
The course takes place at the Good Shepherd Centre, West Lane.
A gentle warm-up will be followed by around an hour of tailored exercise, and then a warm-down and refreshments.
No prior boxing experience is required.
‘A safe and enjoyable way to stay active’
Steve Kennedy, of Keighley Amateur Boxing Club, says: “Boxing can help improve motor skills, enhance balance and posture, and support cognitive function.
“This tailored course offers a safe and enjoyable way to stay active.
“It aims to promote physical wellbeing, social connection and confidence through accessible, non-contact boxing-based exercise.
“We’re proud to provide a welcoming space where people with Parkinson’s can move, connect and build confidence.”
How to get involved
Sessions are being held over the next four Thursdays, starting on October 30, between 10.30am and 12.30pm.
People don’t have to attend every session.
Carers are encouraged to accompany participants, and take part.
