Rory McIlroy was spotted at The Giants Causeway wearing his iconic Masters green jacket in celebration of his Grand Slam triumph.

The Nothern Irishman was seen posing for photos alongside his trophies at the UNESCO World Heritage site back home, after becoming just the sixth player to complete a career Grand Slam.

‘Most excited I have ever been’ – Rory McIlroy sent Asia crowds wild with remarkable moment

He joined Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods in the prestigious club.

McIlroy’s victory at Augusta in April ended an 11-year wait for a fifth major title.

The tournament had eluded him for so long which had many questioning whether he would ever get over the line.

His year got even better when he helped Team Europe retain the Ryder Cup in New York last month.

Ryder Cup ambitions

And the 36-year-old recently revealed his ambition on one day captaining Team Europe at the Ryder Cup following the victory at Bethpage Black.

However, McIlroy says he would not consider the role until he was no longer at the level to make the team as a player.

“Sometime, yes – certainly not 2027. I hope I’m still playing at that point,” McIlroy said at a press conference last week.

“I would love to be the European team captain at some point, but that will be beyond my playing days — or at least when my playing days are coming to an end and I’m not good enough to make the team.

“Hopefully that’s not in 2027. Hopefully I’m still good enough to play and put points on the board for Europe.

“But absolutely, I would love to be a captain one day.

He finally got to wear the green jacket after a tense playoff at Augusta

“I feel very fortunate that I’ve had a front row seat playing under some of the best captains in history.

“Luke Donald has revolutionised the captaincy role, especially within Europe.

“If I can be nearly as good a captain as Luke Donald, I’ll have done a good job.

“Hopefully one day in the future – but I’d say not until the mid-2030s, hopefully, if I can keep playing well.”

Meanwhile, the world number two recently arrived back from competing in New Delhi at the DP World India Championship which was played between October 16 and 19.

McIlroy was tied 26th at the finish, earning himself a prize pot of $38,000.

He finished 11 shots behind winner Tommy Fleetwood, who scooped $680,000 for his victory.
