Halo Campaign Evolved has officially been revealed this weekend, serving as a full remake of the original game, launching on the Xbox Series X/S, PC, and, you guessed it, PlayStation 5 in 2026.
This is a complete remake built with Unreal Engine 5, and will feature the original campaign, along with new missions, new weapons, 2-player local split-screen co-op and 4-player online co-op.
In a recent PlayStation Blog post by Halo Studios Community Director Brian Jarrad, we also found out that aside from fresh visuals and all-new cinematics, smoother controls and movement, we’ll get the chance to mess around with nine new weapons, and play through three brand-new prequel missions.
PS5 You Say?
Recent rumours and plenty of general buzz have suggested for a while now that this was only a matter of time. With Xbox, or Xbox Game Studios, providing PlayStation with numerous exclusives up until this point, Halo simply felt like the last domino to fall here.
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle was initially touted as an Xbox exclusive, and made its way over to the PS5 in a matter of months. The original Gears of War was released (again) in the form of Gears of War: Reloaded, which was also released on the PS5 as well as the Xbox Series X/S and PC.
It’s also been mentioned that Halo Campaign Evolved marks the beginning of a new trend for Halo games on the new platform, with this being the first of what I can only assume are additional remakes or even outright sequels moving forward.
As we had recently discussed in our Xbox Game Pass price increase article, the brand has been going through changes of sorts, to say the least. Either way, it now seems clear that Xbox isn’t really fussed where you’re playing their games, as long as you’re playing their games.
Halo Campaign Evolved will launch on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5 and PC sometime in 2026.
