ROCK Hill, S.C. – Presbyterian’s David Mamalat and Matija Samardzic captured the Big South Doubles Championship at the Big South Individual Championship at the Rock Hill Tennis Center in Rock Hill, S.C. on Sunday morning.
With the doubles title, the Blue Hose doubles tandem earned the league’s automatic bid to the ITA Conference Masters Championships, being played in San Diego, California, November 6-9.
DOUBLES CHAMPIONS
In Sunday’s championship match, Mamalat and Samardzic defeated Longwood’s Timeo Puech and Daniel Borisov, 8-5, to win the title.
In Saturday’s semifinals, Mamalat and Samardzic defeated Gardner-Webb’s Kaua Lopes Cressoni and Boyd Schreiber, 8-6, to advance to the finals.
In Friday’s quarterfinals, they beat UNC Asheville’s Griffin Lovern and Cian Ingles, 8-6.
