Five-time All-NBA First Team Los Angeles Lakers guard Luka Doncic will join 21-time All-NBA LA power forward LeBron James riding pine for at least the next week, in a concerning injury development.
Per Jovan Buha of “Buha’s Block,” the 6-foot-6 guard has been diagnosed with a left finger sprain and, kin a surprise, a lower left leg contusion.

Doncic is set to be reassessed in a week, meaning he could be out even longer.
As Buha observes, Doncic’s prognosis already means he will miss at least the Lakers’ next four games — Sunday’s clash against the Sacramento Kings, Monday’s matchup hosting the Portland Trail Blazers and their new interim head coach, and road meetings with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Wednesday and the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday.

Thanks to Doncic’s Herculean scoring efforts, the Lakers obliterated Minnesota this past Friday, 128-110, to notch LA’s first win of the young season. Doncic logged a 49-point, 11-rebound double-double, while also dishing out eight dimes, in just 35 minutes of action.
Across his two healthy games this season, the Slovenia superstar is averaging a remarkable 46.0 points on .620/.318/.7793 shooting splits, 11.5 rebounds, 8.5 assists, 1.0 steals and 0.5 blocks a night.

The Timberwolves will no doubt be looking to avenge that defeat with Doncic and James both shelved.
Sacramento is fairly beatable, but the other clubs wouldn’t even be sure-thing victories were the Lakers fully healthy. Los Angeles might be lucky not to drop all four games.
According to the most recent NBA injury report, fourth-year power forward Keegan Murray (left thumb UCL surgery recovery) and rookie shooting guard Nique Clifford (right hamstring strain) have both been ruled out. Two-time All-Star wing Zach LaVine, meanwhile, is questionable with an illness, but hasn’t been ruled out just yet.
LaVine, 30, represents a major X-factor for the Kings’ chances against Los Angeles on Sunday. Although he’s a bit of a ball hog, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard is a high-volume scorer and a tough cover.
Across his two healthy contests, the UCLA product is averaging 30.5 points on a .548/.316/.900 slash line, 2.0 rebounds, 1.0 assists and 0.5 blocks a night.
