West Coast Eagles defender Jess Rentsch was cited by the Match Review Officer following Saturday’s 17-point loss to Sydney at Henson Park.
Rentsch was charged with Rough Conduct on Sydney’s Montana Ham for an incident in the first quarter that was deemed Careless Contact, Medium Impact and High Contact.
The base sanction is a one-match suspension, with no option for an early plea, and the club has decided to challenge the sanction, which will see the case taken to Tribunal.Â
If successful, Rentsch will be available to play in Friday night’s clash with Carlton as the Eagles look to secure a historic finals berth.Â
Co-captain Bella Lewis was also charged for Careless Contact with an Umpire (first offence), and the club has accepted a $100 financial sanction with an early plea.Â
