It’s been a rough few months for Mirra Andreeva, with the demands of the WTA taking its toll on the teenager.

Andreeva left the court in tears at the Wuhan Open and was then dumped out in round one of the Ningbo Open, which followed it.

It might be a good thing that she’s missed out on the WTA Finals in Riyadh, and now she has the chance to take stock of her 2025.

Andreeva isn’t the only member of her family looking for some consistency on the tour, with her sister, Erika, trying desperately to get back up the rankings.

It did prove to be a very good weekend for her, however, as she bounced back with a vengeance at the latest event she took part in over in Hamburg.

For some players lower down the rankings, the tour never really stops, and the Hamburg W75 event was won by Andreeva, who arrested an alarming run of form.

She came through in straight sets against Spanish opponent Kaitlin Quevedo to end a long-standing run of nine straight defeats across a host of tournaments.

Andreeva didn’t drop a single set across the tournament and bounced back to form after losing her way since the halfway stage of the year.

The 21-year-old is slightly older than Mirra and has badly lost her way in recent months, slipping from world number 65 in 2024 all the way down to world number 206.

Mirra Andreeva needs to look towards older sister for inspiration

Andreeva can still look back on a very successful 2025, even if it ended in disappointment with not making the WTA Finals in Riyadh.

As a teenager, perhaps she’d now be wise to look at her older sister for some inspiration, with the break she took from tennis clearly paying dividends.

To break a nine-match losing streak is one thing, but to break it and go all the way to lift a title is a huge step in the right direction for Erika.

It’s her biggest title yet!

Was on a 9 match losing streak, it was so bad she even took a break from tennis for a few months, lost again in Jinan but then all of a sudden won a match here & went on a run! pic.twitter.com/b7p0013PR8

With the tennis schedule so jam-packed these days, it’s absolutely vital that players take time out to recover both physically and mentally.

With Erika benefitting from a break from tennis, perhaps now is the time for Mirra to do the same and try to come back as fresh as possible for the Australian Open.
