The Washington Commanders came into this season with high expectations.

That was understandable, considering Jayden Daniels had one of the best rookie seasons for a quarterback we’ve ever seen, leading his team to the NFC Championship Game. However, things haven’t gone as planned so far, and after losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 8, the team is sitting at 3-5.

Of course, injuries can be blamed for many of the struggles. Daniels has already missed three games, including Week 8, and now NFL insider Adam Schefter isn’t sure the quarterback will be back for Week 9 either.

Appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Monday, Schefter was asked about Daniels’ status against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday Night Football in Week 9.

“I just think a guy that’s had a knee injury and a hamstring injury… Hamstrings, you gotta be really careful with that… I won’t be surprised if we don’t see Jayden again on Sunday night,” Schefter said.

Schefter also mentioned how careful the Baltimore Ravens have been with Lamar Jackson. Jackson is also dealing with a hamstring injury, and like Daniels, likes to make plays with his legs.

Of course, Commanders fans aren’t going to be happy to hear that. At 3-5, we’re getting to a point where the wins are going to have to start coming again if you have any hope of competing with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC East.

The Seahawks are going to be a tough out even if Daniels plays. The Seahawks are sitting at 5-2 so far and boast the top run defense in the NFL. The good news is that the Commanders will be back at home for this matchup, where they’re 2-1 so far in 2025.

It will be worth keeping an eye on the injury reports this week to see if Daniels practices. Playing on Sunday night gives the team a little more time to decide on his status than if they played in the earlier window.
