After many twists and turns, Panathinaikos has agreed to a buyout with Baskonia, and Nikos Rogkavopoulos will return to Greece, signing a three-year contract.
The deal between all involved sides is being finalized according to multiple sources.
On top of that, Panathinaikos owner Dimitris Giannakopoulos discussed the impending deal on his Instagram account, without naming the player, but stating that he had signed a Greek addition, on the heels of Olympiacos’ extension of Evan Fournier’s contract.
Panathinaikos initially didn’t want to get involved in direct negotiations with the Spanish team, leaving the player to discuss a possible buyout.
However, that changed, especially after the signing of Jonas Valanciunas was not completed, with Rogkavopoulos being considered as the best young Greek player available.
The buyout clause of Rogkavopoulos’ contract had expired, Baskonia was still in danger of losing him next summer without any compensation, and decided to part ways with him.
