Joan Penarroya: We weren’t brilliant, but the team gave everything

Joan Penarroya’s squad managed to defeat Milano at home last night in Round 7 of the EuroLeague.

Barcelona celebrated a narrow 74:72 victory. After the game, Joan Penarroya shared his impressions:

“A complicated game, in which in the first half we didn’t take the initiative due to turnovers, which punished us a lot even though defensively we were both correct. In the third quarter, with the boost from the last two three-pointers, we had a good offensive quarter.

And the last quarter… very even, with little success, but we have to be happy with our defensive work. The team played very well, it’s an important and hard-fought victory,” said Joan Penarroya.

“We have to give it a lot of importance because it’s our second consecutive win this season. We had the ability to win a game despite what everyone complains about, by being solid. Today we managed a game while struggling offensively but being quite solid defensively. It was important to win in front of a well-filled Palau.

We weren’t brilliant, but the team gave everything and knew how to suffer to secure a high-level game. Winning is important, but we have to take steps forward, and today we can be happy because we’ve taken a step forward in defensive solidity,” concluded the Barcelona coach.
