A study exploring the feasibility of a shared cycling and walking path around Lake Colac has been released for public comment.
The report examines the potential barriers and costs of a 2.5-metre-wide shared-use path around the lake, something community members have long called for.
Options under consideration include a full 30.5-kilometre loop around the lake and a western route linking Colac to Rossmoyne Park and Cororooke.
Several factors would come into play were a path to be constructed, including land access, ownership, erosion and embankments, cultural heritage and environmental protection.
The development of a path on the shores of Lake Colac would involve significant cost and need to occur in stages, relying on government funding.
The report can be read in full and submissions can be made by 5pm, Friday 5 December, on the council’s website.
