I’ve always been a fan of traditional paperback books, because nothing compares to the weight and feel of them.
But after years of family and friends raving about their Kindle devices, I knew it was finally time to get my hands on one.
Luckily for me, the latest and greatest to arrive on Aussie shores is the Colorsoft, Amazon’s first-ever colour device, starting from $399.

More than just your average e-reader, Colorsoft offers an incredible display, allowing you to view images, book covers and even highlight text — all in colour.
It’s been two months since the new device arrived on my desk, and its already accompanied me many flights, office commutes and weekends away.
Rather than a heavy paperback weighing down my bag, the Kindle Colorsoft is incredibly lightweight, and I love the ability to read on-the-go — picking up exactly where I left off.

Whether you’re an avid reader or rely on a great book to keep you company on a daily commute, I’ve found that Kindle’s new Colorsoft is a game-changer for catching up on reading when I’m on the move.
Lightweight, compact and easy to carry, this new arrival offers a high-contrast display that looks almost identical to reading a real paperback.
It’s 100 per cent distraction-free, with zero notifications or social media apps, so I’ve loved delving into a great book — without the noise.

I’m planning on taking my Kindle overseas in the next couple of months because is t’suitable for reading on the beach and by the pool.
You can even read in the brightest light or late into the night with auto-adjusting features, perfect for flights or lounging in the sun.
With anti-glare tech to reduce eye stain and a waterproof design, I can happily sit by the water without worrying about it getting wet — unlike a paperback.
But the biggest selling point? It’s encouraging me to read even more, and I can even switch between multiple books.

It’s clear I’m not the only fan of Amazon’s Kindle Colorsoft because over 400 people have ordered one so far this month.
As the 12th generation model in the lineup, shoppers say the 2025 device is the “best purchase if you are wanting a kindle”.
“I would recommend this heartily to those new to Kindle and for those with older models to get this colour model,” says one shopper.
“Give your older kindles to another loved one move to this one for yourself.”
Perfect for reading comics and viewing book covers in colour, it’s a game-changer for anyone who loves a good book.
