That’s because boxing superstar and World Boxing Association (WBA) Lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis is the defendant in a new civil lawsuit filed today (Thurs., Oct. 30, 2025, in Miami-Dade County, accusing him of battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
According to the complaint, the alleged incident occurred on Mon., Oct. 27, at approximately 4:15 a.m. at Tootsie’s Cabaret, a strip club in Miami, Florida, where the woman worked as a VIP cocktail waitress.
The complaint states Davis located the woman in an upstairs VIP lounge, then forcibly grabbed and dragged her through a stairwell, the club’s kitchen, a back entrance, and into the parking garage. It alleges that Davis “continuously grabbed, choked, pushed, pulled, and struck her in the back of the head,” leaving her “terrified and alone and embarrassed for her co-workers and employer.”
The woman claims she and Davis were romantically involved for five months in 2022 and that the boxer physically assaulted her on four prior occasions during their relationship. She also alleges Davis threatened to “kill her” twice in writing, according to the complaint filed with the 11th Judicial Circuit Court.
Davis’ camp has responded, with his trainer Calvin Ford telling USA Today that Davis is “doing great” and that they were “trying to find out what’s going on.”
Davis is currently scheduled to collide with Jake Paul in a special 10-round exhibition boxing match scheduled Fri., Nov. 14, 2025, live from Kaseya Center in Miami, Fla., streaming exclusively on Netflix. The boxing match is expected to be one of the biggest events in boxing history, but these allegations could cast a shadow over his preparation and the upcoming fight.
At this stage, the lawsuit remains a civil case, not a criminal one. The plaintiff is seeking compensatory and punitive damages and has requested a jury trial, per the complaint.
