Healthscope staff have voted in favour of a controversial salary packaging proposal that chief executive Tino La Spina says paves the way for the country’s second-largest private hospital operator to be restructured as a charity and avoid mass hospital closures.
Healthscope said on Tuesday it would take its proposal, to effectively buy itself, to the company’s lenders after more than 80 per cent of staff voted to include salary packaging in 16 of the company’s 20 enterprise agreements.
