PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel Dragons men’s basketball team will start their 2025-26 season against the Widener Pride on Monday, November 3 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center.  The game tips off at 6 p.m. The International Brotherhood of Electrical Worker’s Local 98 is once again the presenting sponsor of Drexel Men’s Basketball.

About Drexel

The Dragons won 18 games last season and placed eighth in the Costal Athletic Association with an 18-15 record. Drexel won their second straight Big Five game against Penn and advanced to the CAA quarterfinals where they lost a close match to the eventual Champion Towson Tigers. 

With 70% of last season’s roster returning the Dragons look to build off of their momentum from last year where they won five of six games to end the season. Junior guards Villiam Garcia Adsten and Shane Blakeney return for their second and third years respectively. Other returning upperclassmen include Victor PanovKevon Vanderhorst, and Garfield Turner. Coach Zach Spiker and his staff have also added five new players to the team, four transfers and one freshman. Moses Hipps from Boise State, Eli Beard from Mary Hardin-Baylor, Martin de Laporterie from Yavapai Community College, Dillon Tingler from Eastern Michigan, and freshman Ignacio Campoy Galvez

About Widener

The Pride are a Division III school located in Chester, Pennsylvania. They are coached by Chris Carideo in his 19th season.

Tonight will be the only time the Dragons and Pride meet this season.

What’s Next

The Dragons return to the DAC on Monday, November 3 to face the Widener Pride. The Dragons will hit the road to play Saint Joseph’s University in the first of three Big 5 games this season before playing Colgate in New York.
