Take a look back at some of the best moments from Geelong’s 2025 AFL season, including a big Gather Round win over the Crows
Geelong’s Gather Round clash was more than just a test against one of the competition’s in-form teams.
There was early pressure on the Cats after a 2-2 start, staring down a tough month of football with upcoming opponents that included Hawthorn, Collingwood and Carlton.
Adelaide were off to a strong start in 2025, but facing them on their home deck to kick off the Gather Round festivities was a whole different ball game.
In front of a packed crowd at Adelaide Oval, the Cats rolled in and put together one of their best performances of the year.
The opening quarter certainly lived up to the hype, as the teams went toe-to-toe in an electric period of football.
Trading blows throughout the term, Ollie Henry kicked the final goal before quarter time to pull the Cats back within five points at the first break.
Adelaide then had their period of dominance, threatening to blow the game wide open as they built a 30-point lead midway through the second quarter.
But just as the game seemed to be slipping away from the Cats, they wrestled back the ascendancy and booted four quick goals of their own, closing the gap to 12 points at half time.
It felt as though Geelong were just hanging in at times throughout the opening half, but it did not take long for them to make a statement after the main break.
Just 20 seconds into the third quarter, Max Holmes strolled out of a centre stoppage and launched home a long-range goal, which sparked a run of three unanswered goals for the Cats.
Adelaide responded later in the quarter, with Geelong trimming the margin ever so slightly back to eight points at the final break.
Then the superstars took over.
In the space of 10 minutes in the last quarter, Jeremy Cameron and Patrick Dangerfield slammed through four consecutive goals between them, proving to be the decisive move for Geelong in the contest.
Cameron put the cherry on top with his fourth goal, matching Dangerfield’s four-goal haul, as Geelong clinched an incredible 19-point victory over the Crows.
