Sydney Sweeney fell in love with boxing while training for Christy, the upcoming biopic about the life and career of former WBC super welterweight champion, Christy Martin. In fact, the now-jacked Sweeney is so obsessed with the “sweet science” she’s actually pursuing a charity boxing match against an opponent to be named.
“There was a moment in the middle of filming where I was like, ‘Should I give it all up and fight because I love this?’ Christy said she’d sign me up,” Sweeney told SportsCasting. “So, this isn’t as hypothetical as you actually think it is. Yeah, I’d totally do a charity bout, that’d be so sick. It’s a surprise, you’ll have to wait, I’m serious. You gotta stay tuned for the pay-per-view and you’ll see it.”
“I loved it,” Sweeney continued. “I worked hardest on that left hook. And I think what would get me through a fight is that I can take a punch. I wouldn’t quit. Nobody’s offered to get me into the ring. I have gotten some interesting DMs from some boxers though.”
