West Australian Premier Roger Cook says more work needs to be done before he can fully endorse federal Labor’s proposed overhaul of Australia’s broken environment laws, but has backed a push for it to be passed this year.
Cook was instrumental in forcing Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to delay reforms during the last term of parliament. He was also a vocal critic of then-environment minister Tanya Plibersek for failing to appease the state’s powerful resources companies.
