Los Angeles Angels general manager Perry Minasian may be looking to shake up his organization’s roster in his final season under contract.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi, Los Angeles may look into trading one of its outfielders in Jo Adell or Taylor Ward. Nothing is for sure going to happen, but Morosi believes it is more likely than not.

“I would say a better than 50/50 chance that they move one of their significant veteran outfielders,” Morosi said on Wednesday’s episode of “Hot Stove.” “I’ll mention one team in particular. The Philadelphia Phillies, because we know that (Nick]) Castellanos is probably getting moved, Alec Bohm could get traded and Kyle Schwarber is a free agent. A lot of moving parts there with the Phillies, the outfield there with Philly is very much a work in progress, so I could easily see an Angels-Phillies move involving one of those outfielders.

Both Adell and Ward are coming off a 2025 season in which they set career highs in home runs with 37 and 36, respectively. Those home run numbers were good for fourth and fifth among all American League hitters last season. Adell’s .236 average was the highest of his career over a full season, while Ward’s .228 average was a career low for him across a full campaign. Both players reached an OPS+ above 100, with Ward having the high mark at 116.

As Morosi noted, a move with the Phillies almost makes too much sense. Philadelphia is consistently in the market for outfielders and acquiring one of Adell or Ward will be much cheaper than the contract that Kyle Tucker will command when free agency begins.

If a trade is made, new Angels’ manager Kurt Suzuki will lose one of the key bats in his expected lineup and will have his work cut out for him in his first full season as a major league manager.
