Netflix continues to keep its cards close to its chest when it comes to Greta Gerwig’s upcoming adaptation of The Magician’s Nephew. So much so that composer Mark Ronson told BBC Radio 4 he recently received a “slap on the wrist” for even talking about it.
I am unfortunately not allowed to talk about [Narnia]. Sorry, I’m not being coy. I’ve just got a slap on the wrist.”
Ronson shared something similar with a NarniaWeb reader, Francesco, at a recent book signing in London.
I’m not allowed to talk about that… honestly, I wish I could… I’ve been a [Narnia] fan since I was four years old… those were my favorite books as a kid, I had the whole set.”
Beyond those remarks, Ronson hasn’t revealed much about the project since first hinting at his involvement to Today in September. In a more recent interview, he talked about visiting Hans Zimmer’s studio and experimenting with “old vintage synthesizers”. He also indicated that he’d be reuniting with Barbie co-composer Andrew Wyatt for the Narnia score.
Meanwhile, the second half of filming continues at Cardington Studios in England — one of the world’s tallest soundstages — and we’re told production is expected to run up to Christmas.
