Western Bulldogs and Brisbane players have been stopped from entering the field of play at the Gabba ahead of their Friday night AFL clash because of a severe weather warning which includes lightning.
The two teams weren’t far off beginning their warm-ups, less than two hours before the first bounce, when AFL officials made the call to keep them inside.
Late on Friday, the Bureau of Meteorology issued a severe thunderstorm warning including damaging winds and large hailstones.

The precautionary decision was made to keep the players from the field when the weather reached a 10km radius from the ground.
The AFL remains optimistic the weather will clear in time for the scheduled first bounce at 7.40pm.
Brisbane’s official warm-up is set to begin at 6.55pm.
