Jason Johannisen has been added to Hawthorn’s coaching panel for the 2026 AFL season.
Hawthorn is delighted to announce the appointment of 2016 Norm Smith Medallist Jason Johannisen as an AFL Development Coach ahead of the 2026 season.
The premiership player arrives at the Hawks following 212 games and 77 goals across 15 years at the elite level for the Western Bulldogs.
Johannisen will now turn his hand to coaching with the next generation of Hawks set to benefit from his experience and leadership.
He joins Head of Development Daniel Giansiracusa, VFL Senior Coach David Mirra and former Port Adelaide Development Coach Jason Williams in forming a new-look development coaching department for the 2026 season.
Hawthorn Executive General Manager of Football Rob McCartney was thrilled to welcome Johannisen to the brown and gold.
“On behalf of the club, I’d like to congratulate Jason on his appointment,” McCartney said.
“Over his 15-year playing career, Jason has demonstrated his willingness to succeed, drive competitive standards among his teammates and deal with adversity, traits that he can instil in our players for many years to come.
“We’re delighted that Jason has chosen to remain in the industry as a development coach, and we know our players will really benefit from his experience and insights as someone who played at the elite level as recently as this year.”
