Yesterday Egan Bernal posted a video on his social networks to report the theft of the bike with which he won the Tour de France in 2019. The INEOS Grenadiers rider is the last rider of the British team to win the Tour back in 2019, when he and Geraint Thomas finished on the top of the standings after one of the most thrilling editions in recent memory.
In a video shared on social media, Bernal shared the bad news: “Hello guys, I have to communicate something to you. Imagine that my bicycle disappeared. Nothing. We are looking at cameras, finding out what happened. Hopefully this can be cleared up quickly. In any case, we will keep you informed as it happens. Stay tuned. Ciao”.
The stolen bike is nothing more and nothing less than the yellow Pinarello with which the cyclist from Zipaquirá managed to win the most important race in the world. Only this week Lidl-Trek rider Otto Vergaerde was victim of a burglary whilst he spent time in Spain on vacation.
This follows along with a trend of increasing robbery cases in pro cycling, with the Grand Tours specially being affected by cases of mass theft, organized crime without a doubt.

A complex 2025
Egan Bernal has signed a more than worthy 2025 culminating with a great stage victory in the Vuelta a España. After his serious accident in 2022 in which he almost lost his life, it has been undoubtedly his best season.
He started the year with a double in the Colombian National Championships, winning the time trial and the road race. Later he was seventh in the Volta a Catalunya. He finished in the same position in a Giro d’Italia in which he proved very combative but didn’t have the legs to make the difference in the end. Then he was sixth in the Itzulia and, as we said, won a stage in the Vuelta (17th overall). He finished the season fourth in the Giro dell’Emilia, ninth in Gran Piemonte and eighth in Il Lombardia.
