Remco Evenepoel had a very busy and successful end to the season, conquering the World and European time trial championships as well as finishing second to Tadej Pogacar in the road races and Il Lombardia. Afterwards, he had a team camp with his new teammates at Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe and a stint in the USA where he’s spent time in the wind tunnel. He has not yet taken time off for the off-season.

“I haven’t had much of an offseason yet, to be honest. I’ve had a lot of team commitments and have had to go to America and Salzburg a few times,” Evenepoel said in words to VTM at an event of his R.EV academy.

The Belgian didn’t succeed at his goal at the Tour de France, and this followed a lackluster spring where he was mostly absent due to the injuries he sustained in December of last year. A difficult stint in the Belgian’s career, but another obstacle he has managed to put behind him.

His performances in the last few months of the season have ended any doubt that his performance will have suffered permanently, and leave a very positive sigh for the German team into the upcoming season. “It only really became the offseason a few days ago, and from now on it’s two or three weeks of vacation and plenty of rest”.

Evenepoel will be joining the likes of Florian Lipowitz, Primoz Roglic, Jai Hindley and Giulio Pellizzari in a stacked Grand Tour lineup for the upcoming season. The calendar selections will be interesting and still very much an open topic, although Lipowitz has asserted his goal to be the Tour, which may increase the chances that we will be seeing the Belgian race the Giro d’Italia next may alongside Jonas Vingegaard – taking into consideration how the Tour route does not suit his abilities.
