The Euphoria star revealed that after training for her upcoming biopic Christy, in which she portrays legendary boxer Christy Martin, she’s open to entering the ring for real.

“I’d totally do a charity bout, that’d be so sick,” Sweeney told Sportscasting.com, adding that she feels she’s absorbed some of Martin’s grit. “I feel like I got her fire inside me and some fight inside me… I’ve got a mean left hook. I’m ready to pounce whenever.”

The role required a major physical transformation. Sweeney said she gained 30 pounds and worked closely with a nutritionist, strength coach, and boxing trainer to reach peak form. “We upped my calorie intake — protein shakes, PB&J sandwiches, milkshakes, just constantly eating because we were so active,” she explained to Variety during the Toronto Film Festival. “I was constantly burning it all off at the same time, so keeping it up was a challenge.”

Sweeney also admitted the shoot was brutal: “I was getting pummeled. They were holding ice packs to my face between takes. I had some gnarly bruises after that.”

Christy hits theaters on November 7. | BGNES
