HONOLULU – The University of Hawai’i men’s tennis team opened up the 2025 Hawai’i Fall Invitational on Friday afternoon at the UH Tennis Complex. The Rainbow Warriors went undefeated in both singles and doubles playing against both Hawai’i Pacific and Hawai’i Hilo.

In doubles, the Rainbow Warriors were victorious in their three matches. Adriano Dzhenev and Hikaru Takahashi defeated Hawai’i Hilo’s Jaden Williams and Max Solano Fons, 6-3. UH’s Timothy Li and Kosuke Nakanishi nearly shutout the Vulcans’ Sergei Tintore and Angel Fonseca Garcia, 6-1 while Hawai’i’s Tianhao Hou and Toa Maeda held off UHH’s Iori Furuhata and David Kmavek by a break, 6-4.

The Rainbow Warriors won all eight of its singles matches in straight sets. Dzhenev played one match in the morning and another in the afternoon. He routed Hawai’i Pacific’s Caleb Tobler, 6-1, 6-1 and then came back to defeat UHH’s Angel Fonseca Garcia, 6-1, 6-2. UH’s Nakanishi defeated the Hawai’i Hilo’s Jaime Paquet, 6-3, 6-2, while Ziwen Ju held off Hilo’s Furuhata, 6-4, 6-3. Li was dominant, blanking UHH’s Solano Fons, 6-0, 6-0. UH’s Maeda held off Hilo’s Tintore by a break in the first set then pulled away for the 7-5, 6-1 victory. Hawai’i’s Takahashi was close to shutting out Hawai’i Hilo’s Filippo Di Perna, 6-1, 6-1, while UH’s Hou cruised past Hilo’s Williams, 6-1, 6-1.

The Rainbow Warriors will conclude the Hawai’i Fall Invitational on Sunday, Nov. 9 at 9:00 a.m. HT at the UH Tennis Complex.
