Brisbane City Council is set to implement a trial that uses artificial intelligence to predict, adapt, and control traffic to ease congestion.
Brisbane currently relies on decades-old traffic management systems and was ranked Australia’s most congested city and 10th globally in last years INRIX Global Traffic Scorecard.
The $15 million trial will launch in 2026 and run for a two year contract, with the potential to extend up to a decade if successful.
Brisbane City Councillor Ryan Murphy, the Civic Cabinet Chair for Infrastructure, spoke about the upcoming trial with Kat Feeney on Afternoons.
