It was the highest overnight audience since the Gavin and Stacey finale, which attracted 12.3 million on Christmas Day last year, the BBC said.
At 1.9 million live requests, BBC iPlayer also drew the highest live viewing number of all time for any entertainment episode.
A 70-minute special episode saw five players take part in one last mission before a final showdown, resulting in one celebrity taking out £87,500 for their chosen charity.
While it dropped on 10 streaming in Australia on Friday afternoon, the series is still unfolding on 10 broadcast, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
