Katy Perry‘s new hit Bandaids has got people talking.
The single, which is the first new single the 41-year-old pop star has released since her split from Orlando Bloom, seems to allude to their relationship breakdown.
But sharing the song with the world is something that she admitted she “struggled” with in a candid post on Instagram.

“Thank you for the love on bandaids… tbh I struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out,” she started in the caption.
“Even after all these years it can be scary to be vulnerable… but hopefully the lyrics of this song resonate with someone going through what I have been through and maybe they won’t feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I have.”
Perry also posted a series of behind the scenes pictures from filming the music video for Bandaids.
The single, which was released last week, seems to hint at her split from Bloom.

Perry hasn’t publicly revealed what or who the inspiration behind Bandaids is.
The opening line, “Hand to God I promise I tried, there’s no stone left unturned. It’s not what you did, it’s what you didn’t – you were there but you weren’t,” appears to allude to emotional distance in their relationship.
The music video also follows her enduring painful mishaps, most of them self-inflicted – seemingly giving a nod to repeated hurt in her relationship.
But it seems as though the singer has no regrets, with another line in her song, “If I had to do it all over again, I would still do it all over again.”
The single is her first new music since the 2024 release of her album 143.
Perry and Bloom first met in 2016, and he proposed three years later.

Earlier this year speculation started to mount that the couple, who never married, had called off their engagement and ended their relationship.
According to US Weekly, who reported the breakup in June, the couple had been spending “more and more time apart” in recent months while Perry was on her Lifetimes Tour, which kicked off in April.
