The No. 11 (AFCA) and No. 8 (D2Football.com) University of Minnesota Duluth football team has been ranked fifth in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division II Super Region Three rankings.
The program entered the rankings for the first time since being placed ninth in the top ten team list in week three of the Super Region Four rankings of the 2022 season. This also marks the highest ranking since the 2018 season, the third week of rankings had them picked third after starting the rankings first overall.
The Bulldogs (9-1) are one of three NSIC teams in the list, with Minnesota State University Mankato (8-2) lagging behind UMD in sixth and Augustana University (9-1) falling from fifth to eighth. Ahead of UMD is Ferris State University (9-0) first, University of Findlay second (10-0), University of Indianapolis third (8-1), and Ashland University (8-2) fourth.
The Super Region Three includes four different conferences, with the NSIC accounting for three teams. Ferris State belongs to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference (GLIAC), while UIndy, Truman, and Upper Iowa are members of the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC). The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (GMAC) has three members, including Findlay, Ashland, and Northwood.
The Division II Football Championship field has a maximum of 32 teams, with eight teams from each of the four Super Regions earning selections. The NCAA DII selection show is scheduled on Sunday, November 16th, at 5 p.m. on NCAA.com.
