At-home wellness has become increasingly popular in recent years, but it has often been reserved for those with deep pockets. For instance, an at-home sauna was previously something many of us could only dream of having, but this Black Friday, Kmart has one for just $129.
The Foldable Sauna Pod could end up being very popular, especially those living in smaller apartments who want the convenience of a spa-like environment in their own homes. A Kmart spokesperson told Yahoo Lifestyle this could be a great way to jump into the trend.
“We know that Australians want to save without sacrificing the wellness routines they love, which is why the Sauna Pod is a smart, affordable solution,” they said.

“The added bonus is that it’s compact enough to pack away or leave assembled as long as you need!”
Other indoor saunas that have wooden structures Revel Saunas‘ offering can set you back up to $3,999, but not everyone has a few thousand dollars to splurge.
A comparable product to Kmart’s is Recovry Zone’s Sauna Elite, which is usually priced at $360 but is currently on sale for $249.95, or Vital+’s SaunaPod is on sale for $345, down from $495.

Kmart’s Sauna Pod is 80cm long, 80cm wide and 1.8m high when fully set up and will reach a maximum internal temperature of 40 degrees Celsius.
Saunas are typically in the range of 70-90 degrees Celsius, but talk to anyone who has been outside in Australia on a 40 degree day and they’ll likely tell you they were sweating.
The Sauna Pod is made from a durable, heat-sealed, thick cotton fabric for ideal heat insulation.
There are nine adjustable heat levels and a three-litre steamer capacity, plus there’s also a foldable chair that supports up to 100kg.
The product, along with a $99 LED Workout Mat, which claims to promote relaxation and helps relieve everyday discomfort, and a $229 Reformer Pilates Machine, will be available to purchase from 8am on Thursday, November 27.
Kmart has revealed to Yahoo Lifestyle that the Sauna Pod will provide full-body heat therapy for detoxification, relaxation, improved circulation and muscle recovery.
They also add that it’s best used after exercise, in the morning, or during evening wind-downs.
How do I use Kmart’s Foldable Sauna Pod?
Kmart claims that there are several different benefits you can experience depending on the time of day you use it.
A typical session is 15-20 minutes, but you can adjust the timing based on your comfort and experience level.
You might not want to spend the whole 15 minutes in the pod when you’re first starting out, as it might feel like too much.

In the evening, you might feel more relaxed and have better sleep if you use the sauna one to two hours before bedtime.

Studies have found that sauna use can increase heart rate and blood circulation, similar to moderate exercise, and it can have a positive effect on blood pressure when combined with physical activity.
