A Malaysian couple on a global cycling journey has now reached Sweden, where they are making their way through Värmland on their first European route.
Nora Adila and Ahmad Isa, from Kuala Lumpur, describe their adventure as a “Journey of Wisdom.” According to Swedish broadcaster SVT, the couple was interviewed on Thursday in Kristinehamn before continuing their ride toward Karlstad.
During their long-distance travels, they sleep in a tent, hotels, with host families — and most recently, at the local mosque in Kristinehamn. This is their third major cycling expedition. Their first journey in 2016 took them from Malaysia to Mecca across 14 countries, and their second in 2023 covered seven countries. This year marks the first time they are cycling in Europe.
Ahmad told SVT that he has developed a particular affection for Sweden, highlighting the peace and privacy they find when setting up their tent.
They also praise Sweden’s well-developed cycling paths, although they note that many things differ from home.

Nora describes European food as “much simpler” than what they are used to in Malaysia and says she experienced a mild culture shock when arriving in Europe. The cold and darkness of the Swedish November weather have also presented challenges.
SVT has published a video clip in which the couple shares why they embarked on their journey and which Swedish dishes they will remember. Watch it here!
