Serbia coach Svetislav Pesic explained why Atlanta Hawks swingman Nikola Djurisic wasn’t included on the preliminary roster of the national team ahead of the 2025 EuroBasket.

“Djurisic is also the future of Serbian basketball. We were thinking of including him, but we have a lot of experienced players in that position,” Pesic said to Sport Klub. “Let him take a break from everything now. He spent the whole year in USA. He’s an excellent boy, hardworking, he managed to break through after all the injuries that befell him and signed a contract with the Atlanta Hawks.”

The Hawks signed Djurisic in July after the player spent the 2024-25 season in the G League with College Park Skyhawks. The 21-year-old player averaged 12.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.2 assists.

Serbia will feature a stacked roster in the EuroBasket that will include superstar Nikola Jokic, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Vasilije Micic and Nikola Jovic, among others. The “Orlovi” will be looking to win the gold medal in a major international competition for the first time since the 2002 World Championship.

The 2025 EuroBasket will tip off on August 27. Serbia is facing Turkey, Czech Republic, Estonia, Portugal and host Latvia in Group A that will be played in Riga.
