Two teams that played at AT&T Stadium last December meet in the first round of the high school football playoffs in arguably the biggest game in the state Friday when Westlake travels to Vandegrift for a Class 6A Division II matchup.

Both squads are loaded with talent, with each quarterback going to a Power 4 school next fall. (Westlake’s Rees Wise is committed to Ole Miss and Vandegrift’s Miles Teodecki is pledged to Kansas State.)

Vandegrift (8-2) won its eighth straight district title when it claimed the District 25-6A championship last week, while Westlake (7-3) finished third in District 26-6A.

The Vipers punt on their first possession. After a decent punt return by Westlake’s Rhett Jenkins, the Chaps take over on the Vandegrift 41.

Westlake marches 75 yards in 12 plays, capped off by a 1-yard touchdown run from Sebastian Henault, to take an early lead. The Chaps rushed for 41 yards and threw for 39 yards on the drive.

After the kickoff sails through the end zone, the Chaps start at their own 25.

Westlake will have the game’s first possession.Â
