Nine years after it last screened on SBS, live shows of RocKwiz are still packing them in.
Nine years after it last screened on SBS, and nearly 3 years after a Foxtel season, RocKwiz is still packing in houses with music trivia fans around the country.
RocKwiz Live plays the State Theatre, Sydney, tonight before gigs in Melbourne, Caloundra, Tweed Heads, Brisbane, Adelaide.
Last year Julia Zemiro, Brian Nankervis and the RocKwiz Orkestra played 40 shows in the final weeks of 2024.
This year is 22 shows but with no less enthusiasm.
“We went everywhere and I remember thinking, ‘You’ve really got to enjoy this!’” Zemiro said.
“You’ve really got to feel how lucky you are that people still fill out rooms to come and see us. We provide such an excellent standard of music, comedy and show. I do not take lightly that when Brian announces my name and I get to walk out to that crowd. It feels amazing.”
And there are still younger fans discovering the show.
“We’re growing older with our audience, but we do see kids. The show we did last year at The Enmore with two contestants -we normally have four contestants from the audience- but we only had two audience members because there was more comedy.
“I was thinking, ‘My God, we only get, we only get two. I hope they’re okay.’ And the two that got through were a 20 year old and a 25 year old, and they were spectacular. So the show keeps rolling on with a new generation.”
