Melbourne has set up a date with the Kangaroos in an AFLW preliminary final after a 11-point victory over Adelaide.
Demons skipper Kate Hore was the star for her side, finishing with three goals which included one perfect grubber from the right pocket.
Hore’s goal came in the third quarter with the Demons down by five points. An inside 50 came Melbourne’s way with Adelaide’s Chelsea Biddell spoiling the ball towards the boundary.

However, Hore gave chase, picking up the loose ball and kicking it along the ground with a banana effort. The skipper then put her hands in the air in celebration with her side one point ahead.

At the end of the third quarter, both sides were even on 41 points.
The Crows went ahead first with a rushed behind before Hore had her third goal. Melbourne’s Ryleigh Wotherspoon and Georgia Campbell then kicked goals to put the result beyond doubt.
A consolation goal came late through Adelaide’s Ebony Marinoff with the Demons winning 9.6 (60) – 7.7 (49).
Maggie Mahony was the second top goalscorer for Melbourne. Marinoff (27) and Hore (26) were top of the disposal count.
In the other Saturday night fixture, Carlton accounted for Hawthorn easily with a 11.13 (79) – 4.9 (33) win.
It was a night for the McKays with Sophie kicking three goals while Abbie had 25 disposals. Blues teammate Mimi Hill tipped the possession count with 27.
Carlton was out to a fast start, leading with 31 unanswered points at the first term.
Hawthorn managed to fight back and score 16 points to the Blues’ 12 in the second quarter. However, Carlton flicked a switch again, leading 10.10 (70) – 2.6 (18) going into the final term.
The Blues will play Brisbane in the other preliminary final.
