Shedeur got tossed into the deep end for his first NFL action on Sunday afternoon, and it showed. Coming in cold against a Ravens defense that lives to bully timing and protection, he finished 4-of-16 for 47 yards with one interception and took two sacks. Cleveland coughed up a six-point lead in the process, which is what the Monday shows latched onto. Fair, but the tape won’t be kind to anybody on the Browns. Dropped passes, miscommunications, and inexperience all had a role to play.
According to Browns offensive lineman Wyatt Teller, this is the first time Shedeur has gotten reps with the first team.
The operation looked like a quarterback dropped into a bad situation. Shedeur clearly didn’t have offensive line protection, or chemistry with his receivers. You could still see the poise we remember, as Shedeur didn’t shy away from throwing down field after the pick and kept hunting for bigger throws outside the numbers instead of drifting into panic checkdowns.

There were human moments, too. Shedeur and LaJohntay Wester shared a quick, genuine exchange after the final whistle, the two former teammates taking a second to reconnect.
The good news is Shedeur is going to get another shot, and as soon as this week potentially. With Dillon Gabriel reportedly doubtful, Shedeur is likely to get another shot this Sunday against a struggling Raiders team. The Browns are about three-point road dogs. Give him a full week with the starters, build the call sheet for him, and we’ll get a better feel for where his progression stands right now.
