One of rugby league’s most exciting youngsters has signed a new deal with the Sharks after Jada Taylor extended her NRLW contract until the end of the 2027 season.

Fans will remember Taylor from the under-19s women’s State of Origin clash in 2022 when she collected a grubber in her own in-goal and then raced the length of the field to score a try that launched her career.

Taylor made her NRLW debut for the Roosters later that year but then made the move to the Sharks where she’s spent the past three seasons.

The electrifying fullback suffered a devastating knee injury in 2024 that ended her season, but she returned this year and played six matches for Cronulla, including both of their finals.

“Being such a young girl when I first came into the program, the Sharks have felt like my first home,” she said.

“We’re building something very special, and we’ve gone well the last couple of years, but I won’t be satisfied until we win a premiership.

“I’ve put my body on the line for this club and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m really grateful they signed me as a fresh 19-year-old who’d played one NRLW game. I want to repay the club, Tony (coach Tony Herman) and all the girls.”

Taylor and the Sharks will open the 2026 season at home against the Knights on July 2, with her coach backing her to become one of the best talents in the NRLW.

“Jada showed glimpses of her brilliance when she returned this season, but excitingly, she’s still nowhere near her full potential,” Herman said.

“On her day, she’s one of the competition’s elite fullbacks with skill and speed that few people can match. She’s endured her fair share of setbacks and, with some overdue luck on her side, we can’t wait to watch her excel in the years to come.”
