CADILLAC — Spectrum recently announced the expansion of multiple services, including Spectrum Internet, to more than 4,700 homes and small businesses in previously unserved or underserved areas in 14 communities across Wexford County.
This expansion benefits communities including Antioch Township, Boon Township, Cedar Creek Township, Clam Lake Township, Colfax Township, Greenwood Township, Hanover Township, Haring Township, Henderson Township, Liberty Township, Selma Township, Slagle Township, Springville Township and the Village of Harrietta.
This initiative is part of a multi-year rural construction plan driven by more than $7 billion in private investment from Spectrum, which will ultimately add more than 100,000 miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure and deliver symmetrical and multi-gigabit internet access to more than 1.7 million new locations across the country, including upstream speeds and multiple gigabit download speeds across its entire 41-state service area.
Michigan’s 36th District Sen. Michele Hoitenga, R-Manton, has been an advocate for expanding access to reliable internet across Michigan’s rural areas. She said the state’s partnership with Spectrum through the Rural Digital Opportunity Fund program is helping to achieve connections to the most hard-to-reach communities.
