McLaren’s Lando Norris will be hoping to land a hammer blow in the race for his first ever F1 Drivers’ Championship under the bright lights of the Las Vegas street circuit.

Currently 24 points clear of his teammate Oscar Piastri and 49 ahead of four-time reigning champion Max Verstappen, the Brit has won the past two grand prix and time is fast running out for his rivals to catch him this season.

Counting against both Norris and Piastri is history in Las Vegas—since the race was first held in 2023 McLaren’s best finish for either driver was a modest sixth by Norris in 2024.

Having lost his championship lead last month in Texas, Australia’s Oscar Piastri goes into the third-last weekend of the F1 season needing a major change of fortunes, having failed to finish ahead of Norris since August 31—almost three months.

Max Verstappen has been driving brilliantly in the latter stages of the season, but will likely need Norris to drop serious points if he’s to be a realistic chance of closing the championship gap by Abu Dhabi.

Raced over 50 x 6.2km laps through the heart of Las Vegas, this weekend’s exciting 17-turn street circuit winds its way past iconic locations like Caesars Palace, the Bellagio and the Venetian.
